Tomorrow!

Hey Ladies and Gents! I hope you are enjoying your beautiful weekend! I can't wait to see you all tomorrow. I wanted to remind you to take your indoor sneakers and also to make sure that you have something to drink in your lunch as there will not be a milk program. I also wanted to let you know that I did take both microwaves to TOSH so you can still use them to heat your lunch. I can't wait to see you all at Elm Street in the morning. Remember we are coming into the gym through the gym side door. There will be lots of teachers there to help you tomorrow if you are not sure of where to go. I am excited to get to TOSH and show you your temporary classroom and your locker. I also can't wait to get back to work on our units. It feels like it has been a long time.

See you in the morning! :)

Hey Ladies and Gents! How is it going this week? I have spent the last few days in our new classroom trying to make it look a little more like home. I can't wait for you to see it. I hope you have been practicing your reading aloud and also your multiplication facts. We will be working hard with this when we start back next week.  Can you do me a favour and remind your parents about the information meeting that will be held at SIS gym tomorrow night at 7 o'clock.  Can you also remind them that I have to work and will not be able to attend, but they can email me if they have any questions and I will try to answer them on Friday.  I can't wait to see you next week. It will be a big change, but I think we are going to like it. I'll see you soon! :)

Saw our new classroom!

Hi 5A! How is everyone doing? I just wanted to tell you I was able to get in and see the classroom today where we will be spending our time at TOSH. It is quite big and I think you will enjoy it. I started packing up our old classroom today, so there will be bits and pieces of our old room in our new room. I also found out today that you will all be able to use a locker to store your kitbags and jackets! Isn't that cool. I hope you are all keeping busy during your time and are practicing your math facts. ;)  Please let your parents know that I am in the process of calling them for phone interviews so I hope to talk to them personally soon. Have a great weekend everyone! :)

What you can do!!!

Hi 5A!!  This has been a crazy crazy few days. I am trying to get things organized for you so that you can work on a few things for the weeks that you are home.  Here are a few things you should be working on over the next week.

Reading - I still expect you to read every day. What I would like you to do is write me five lines (or more) every night telling me about what you read. Was it fiction or non-fiction. Who were the characters? What happened in the story? Did you like it? What did you like about it? Does it remind you of any other books you have already read? What would you have done if you were in this story?

Writing Log - Find an empty scribbler or sheets of paper and do the following writing log entries.

- Write about your thoughts and feelings you had last Friday when you found out Elm Street was closing. 1/2 page.
- I realize that we may be scared with the prospect of going to a new school, but try to look on the positive side and make a list of 6 positive things that could come out of this new school.
- Today is "National Candy Day".  If you could invent a new candy, what would it be? What would be the ingredients? What would it look like? What would it taste like? What would you call it?

Math - It is important that you practice any and all of your math facts. You are responsible for studying your multiplication facts up to 9 by 9. A few good websites that you can practice on are :
        http://www.coolmath4kids.com/
        http://www.multiplication.com/

Using newspapers or magazines. Find items that you could buy to total $1,000,000.  Make a list of what you have chosen, and the total that you have spent.

Please remember to practice your mental math facts. Practice counting money. Tell the time on an analog clock (non-digital) etc.

I can't wait to see you again at whatever school we will be at.

Parents, I will be in touch with you to set up phone interviews. If you have any questions, please email me at the school address.
